The BEST birthday present

Spent my birthday a little unusually this year, with the start being ahem ahem LOL. Last night MY and Theresa came to my hall to drink and they really surprised me with a cake!!! :>

I really got damn shocked cause I didn't expect them to get a cake for me <3 Love you guys :') I was really really really touched!!!!

Then yupz Dong and Leumas came by before going together ^^

Anyway, I met up with BBB at vivo to eat lunch at Marche. And Dong was just quite fail at making the non-surprise a surprise and she was desperately trying to save what's left of the surprise LOL. HAHAHA. Last year for my birthday we also went for Marche, but this year's a little different, cause we are missing 2 of our BBBs :( Ass and Nhu are overseas studying now which makes me feel so empty, like there's something missing even when we were together. But I really really really missed hanging out with all of them, and catching up with BBB. Guys I rly missed uall <3

And we just did really random life updates which were stupid but hilarious HAHA. And just chatted about about all our worries, troubles, basically just life. I felt so comfortable talking to them and actually their existence and them being there for lunch with me was already a really really really great birthday present <3

Actually they gave me a OBEY shirt which was actually quite funny AHAHA I would never wear it actually but ok la I will wear it for y'all k since y'all bought this for me <3 HAHHAHAH.

Went home after to have dinner with my family, and when I reached home my mom was making a birthday cake for me <3 OMG I was really really really touched cause we kinda quarreled before that which made me feel really shitty about going home but she still made me a cake :')

Ordered Pizza Hut for dinner in the end cause my brother refused to go out to eat dinner, but at least we got to eat the new cheesy pizza which was INSANELY DELICIOUS. OMG I really loved it. And the truth is actually my dad forgot about my birthday also LOL.

Initially he wasn't coming home to eat dinner, but I think my mom called him again to ask him to come home to eat LOL. And my dad just went "why you never tell me today your birthday"

...

HAHHA I got nothing to say but aiya I don't really care about that la lol.

OK anyway just chilled at home watching movies and falling asleep.

AND THEN

Janey Waney chat started coming up. IDK but I felt a sense of familiarity just talking to them on the group and spamming and reliving JC days when our group chat can actually be spammed so so so so so much <3 And we were even searching for photos from our JC days and actually we all changed, regardless big or small, the change is still there. And because we are all in different schools (except for me and Lars but Lars med forever busy :( ), naturally we would have drifted away and distanced. But whenever we come together to start talking, it just felt like we didn't stop talking, just that we are really outdated about each other's lives so we NEED some catching up to do.

Really, I feel so blessed to have all of these real and genuine friends in my life, where we just say what we feel and not try and hide anything. Being able to just be myself and talk to them is really really relaxing, like how we can talk about anything under the sun <3 Uni life may have taken up most of our time, but it hasn't taken a toll on our relationship. I won't say what my wish was when I blew the candle, but I really hope that it's one that will come true :>

OH and thanks for everyone who wished me throughout the day <3 I was really really touched by all the messages!

I think it's the effort and thought that counts and I'm really so grateful meeting each and everyone of y'all <3

And I got to talk to people I haven't talked to for a very very very very long time, which I really missed and I wished I had more time to meet up with everyone :> I've learnt to cherish everything that I have and all of you are my favorite gifts :>

Maxwell Food Centre // Tsujiri // Dulcet and Studio

Maxwell Food Centre



Met Jasper after 1 million and 1 years for dinner and catch up, and we went Maxwell Food Centre for dinner. Since it was a Tuesday night, there wasn't alot of people there, which was good since it'll be really hard for us to chope a table. But anyway, I've never been there before so that was my virgin experience there! Heard that there were many food there which were highly recommended by the media, like wanton mee, ohlua jian (fried oyster) etc.

Basically, we just got wanton mee and ohlua jian only. I got the spinach noodles one, which was REALLY cool--green noodles and you can't exactly taste the spinach flavour! But IMO it taste like normal wanton mee, which I don't particularly have to go there just to eat their wanton mee ._.

For the ohlua jian, I. WAS. DISAPPOINTED?! It was said to be one of the top 10 ohlua jian in Singapore, and it's around $5. So anyway, the oysters were still cold, and some parts of the egg became cold too cause of the cold oysters. Isn't it just weird??? I was so sad at how bad the oysters were :'((( I feel so so cheated!! Never going back there to eat again >:(

Tsujiri @ 100am





We needed dessert therapy from our horrible ohlua jian experience previously, so we walked to Tsujiri at 100am for matcha desserts :))) Got the Shiratama Parfait for $7.80 with mochi inside.

Actually I realised I'm not a fan of mochi especially when its just plain, but the matcha ice cream was GOOOOOOD. One of the better ice creams I'm ever had, so guess it's really worth it!! And I loveeee the red bean.

We also got the O-maccha roll cake with the cream and all, HOMAIGAWD. FREAKIN' GOOD.

Dulcet and Studio @ Liang Court

 

Since there was still time before going home, we headed to Dulcet and Studio to try their chiffon cake, which is said to be 'One of the best in Singapore'. The price wasn't that cheap too, so we just shared a slice of Orange Peel Chiffon Cake for $7.00. (no GST/service charge!) There were other flavours too, like matcha, chocolate, peach etc. They also sold eclairs and cream puffs there which were OVERPRICED. :(  

It's legit one of the best chiffon cake I've ever eaten. <3 It's really really REALLLLLYYY soft and moist. Wa thinking about it I can drool sia!!! If only I can bake chiffon cakes :( Haven't tried baking one yet but I'm really lazy and my baking skills are rusty so quite sure I'll be wasting ingredients making a chiffon cake HAHA.



They also sold quite alot of other food, like cafe style, including pastas! Should have just went there directly to eat :( Travelling was so annoying, but for good food I will not complain!! :))

So yes, definitely going back to Tsujiri and Dulcet and Studio to try other stuff that they have, and no NEVER going back to Maxwell food centre again :((

Florist // Hobby // Birthday celebration!

BEEN SO BUSYYYY!!! Anyway, finally started work as a florist!! Ok errr actually I'm just doing till the end of Feb since they want commitment which I can't provide and I feel bad :((( The pay isn't that good IMO since I have to travel all the way to Orchard too, so I'll just quit.

Floral Obsession* @ Scotts Square by K+





^ Floral Obsession is a pop up curatorial florist store in Scotts Square by K+, which is this company that provides a curatorial space for artists to showcase their works and sell them. PERFECT FOR ARTSY PEOPLE. Chris (the florist) is  A FREAKING TALENTED FLORIST I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING!! He didn't even go for flower arrangement classes and did everything based on his instincts. PLUS flower arrangement is his hobby, so basically he's making a living out of his hobby. SO JEALOUS!!!



Anyway, worked for 2 days there, and that place is ATAS. Been washing the vases and learning abit of admin stuff like Excel (been forever since I've touched excel)! But on day 2 I actually watched someone doing a flower arrangement for the first time in my life! I feel super privileged!! Somemore it's by some talented guy ;))







Watching him arrange flowers makes me feel so happy. The way he thinks about how to design the arrangement, the way he uses his imagination to think of creative ways to use different types of flowers intrigues me. (And since I don't really have alot of stuff to do), I've been thinking if I will ever be so devoted to something in my life. Even though I can't really appreciate those arrangements (I am not artsy), but everything has his mind and soul to it and you can even guess what music he's listening to when arranging them. But, the arrangements are GORGEOUS. Legit.

And I didn't even know there were so many people interested in flowers/arrangements!!! Maybe cause I've never been exposed to flowers (and the flowers are REAL EX) so I can't appreciate it \'_'/

But yea and it made me think of stuff even more. What you study in university does not actually determine your career. Working hard for what you actually like determines your career. WOWZIES so chim!!! Learnt all these chim stuff in 2 days in a flower shop clearly I've been tamed (ok kidding) HAHAHAHA.

OHOH and on the 3rd level is another store by K+, which showcases art by talented artists, but it changes often! This time it's by Keng Lye, who used resin and acrylic to make SUPER LOOK-LIKE REAL artworks!! Kinda scary how it actually looks like a real fish trapped inside!!! The art works are usually DAMN EXPENSIVE, which I wouldn't afford but there are actually people buying them!! (clearly I'm being introduced to the atas world which I cannot afford T.T)

Tian Kee & Co

hey ;)



After incessant cake cravings and posts from satay onto our whatsapp group chat, we decided to go to Tian Kee & Co to try their desserts + brunch ;) MINUS CALLY cos she burden don't wanna come :( But yala we really missed her she should have came!!!

Anyway, the nearest MRT station is Mountbatten, and its just a 3 min walk from the MRT, which is REALLY near. So we actually had quite high hopes on the place--airconditioned, 'atas', furnished with a theme etc. BUT NO. It's actually like a super old shophouse, turned cafe. Sounds old? BUT NO IT'S ACTUALLY QUITE COOL. We reached too early since they opened at 12pm, so we had to wait for the shop to actually open. HAHA. Too excited for food alr LOL And since it was a Thurs morning, there weren't alot of people at the shop so we didn't have to queue, and the food was quite fast! :P

The shop actually had a rustic feel to it, which is quite nostalgic :') especially for the 90's and below kids <3

Their food's actually not quite expensive, for their brunch/breakfast, the most expensive food was probably $14.90? And there is no add on GST/service charge so the price is nett ;)) YAYZ.

So we ordered a Full day breakfast meal and a Tian Kee Eggs Royale (which had smoked salmon!), and there was a side salad each. Also got a cup of Mr Brown (kopi) with bandung and Pink Lady (bandung). OK. The Mr Brown with bandung sounds weird right? And IMO initially it tastes weird. BUT IT IS ACTUALLY DAMN GOOD AFTER A WHILE. It's like coffee infused with bandung taste <3 Definitely should try it!!!

Caught up on alot of stuff--our lives, other people... but actually most of the time we were just spazzing. About what? ANDIE CHEN AND JESSICIA LIU WERE THERE. PUTTING MAKEUP. LIKE OMG??? OMGOMGOMG HAHAHAH. And we were contemplating whether we should take a photo with them but in the end we didn't cause we weren't really fans of them HAHAHA. Sorry guys x) But Jessicia Liu is really pretty!!! HAHA but we sneakily took a selfie with them in the background HAHAHAHAHHA

OK anyway, the Tian Kee Eggs Royale TASTED AMAZING. Even though its not eggs benedict, and the sauce was supposed to be cheese sauce but it tasted more like thousand island to me, IT WAS FREAKING GOOD. Basically it was 2 muffins faced up, each with smoked salmon, sunny side up egg and 'cheese sauce'. THE SAUCE IS ACTUALLY SINFUL. BUT WHO THE HELL CARES??? Food is good when eaten together with no worries ;)

And the all day breakfast was ALSO REALLY GOOD. AIYA Basically just come and try!!! TEHEE.

They also sell wraps and soup, which looked soooooo good on the menu, but we were quite full already so let's just leave it for next time! Oh alot of people ordered the pumpkin cheese soup which was $8.90 so I think it was good??? Not sure but I'll definitely try it next time!!

Next was the main course: CAKES (kidding HAHA)

Actually we wanted to get this cheesecake that looked like paddle pop. Called rainbow cheesecake and it really looked AMAZING. But reviews all said that it was just a normal cheesecake so we didn't order it :( Actually we wanted to order it but after 2 cakes we were actually full omg.

We ordered the Ugly Nutella Cake (HAHA I LIKE THE NAME COS IT'S REALLY UGLY) and Caramel cheesecake, @ $6.50 each! OMG IT WAS REALLY REALLY GOOD. (especially if you like cheesecake!)

IMO the ugly nutella cake was really good initially, with oreo crust below it. But after a while I got quite sick of the top part, which didn't have a strong flavour, like meringue with cocoa powder? Actually I'm also not sure, but STILL DAMN GOOD LA. Just try it!!!

I wanted to try the yuan yang cheesecake but clearly we were too full so IT'S GONNA BE LEFT FOR THE NEXT TIME I'M THERE!!! HEHE

Continued sitting there and chatting for a really really long time (actually we just wanted to watch them do their filming) but they left in the end :( Maybe their filming was at another place??? HAHA But still so happy to see actors and actresses!!!

But anyway, their food is actually not that expensive, just no usual fries or anything HAHA! Will definitely come back again to try other stuff, and their cakes!!!!!!

Sigh I miss baking :((( But there's no point in me baking cause I'll be the only one finishing it and I'll feel so sick of it SIAN. OHWELLZ. I'll bake again when I have the time!!! ;))) Oh if you need any info on how to get there can ask me!

AND it's usually closed on Mondays so don't ever appear on Mondays!!!
