Today's my last day working in a secret garden, and I can't help but feel really sad :( Well usually I wouldn't be sad to end a job, but this time, working at the shop was like a wonderland, a secret garden that no one can intrude except for like-minded people. Even though I worked for only 2 weeks, I've already met so many new friends and exposed to so many different groups of people! AND the main thing is

I'VE FOUND MY LOVE FOR FLOWERS

How cool is that?!?! Ok, maybe cause I haven't been exposed to flowers very often since young, and even on the first day I worked, I couldn't appreciate anything. But as time passed by, I slowly began to realise how therapeutic flowers are, and how lucky I am to have been able to work in this secret garden. Chris and Carolyn are also real awesome, and their view on life is also very inspiring :)))

So for the last day of work, I learnt how to make something that's for funerals:



It's really amateur-ish since it was a mad rush and Chris couldn't make it himself. Actually he was supposed to help save/improve my lousy work but the delivery guy came and we had to send it off in it's horrible state. But OHWELL, at least I've learnt my lesson on how to make it better!! :))

Got Malay rice for lunch today!!

Chris also gave me flowers (actually maybe cause it will die if left in the shop for too long since it'll be closed during CNY), but still, they were GORGEOUS. Really couldn't contain my excitement HAHAHA. And adding on to the red alstroemerias which I got the day before, I have TONS of flowers at home <3







Bought yellow tulips from him too, (luckily he made me pay cause I feel really bad without paying them), and he gave me this SUPER DUPER CRAZY DISCOUNT HAHA. And he just gave me all 10 stalks too <3

Reunion Dinner



Another highlight of the day ;)) IT'S CNY EVE WHICH MEANS REUNION DINNER!!! Went to hihao's house for dinner with my other cousins, which is SO FUN. Finally I got to lou hei this year!! :))) Always love lou hei since we can shout random stuff and just go crazy for a moment, and then just picking out the crackers and abalone to eat!







Dinner afterwards was like potluck, with penzai, and lorbak, and duck meat, and cold scallops all handmade by the fine older ladies ;) Doesn't sound alot, but when you actually eat it, the penzai already has SO MUCH ingredients we can't even finish our food!! And there was the saga of preventing flies from flying into the soup/drinks cause of the light's reflection. HAHAHAHA.

Chatted alot about uni life and games and super random stuff, and really so happy we could catch up again! (after a year LOL)

We also had a night tour around the condo which was REALLY COOL and the playground was super high-tech, with lights and stuff?! WOW I am really amazed. Next time all playgrounds would be like that LOL.

And all of them were amazed at my wide lens HAHAAHAH SERIOUSLY LOL. But it's really so useful!!! x))) Luckily I bought it wheeeeee <3

So much eating and catching up with my couzzies I'm so happy right now!!! :)))

Maxwell Food Centre // Tsujiri // Dulcet and Studio

Maxwell Food Centre



Met Jasper after 1 million and 1 years for dinner and catch up, and we went Maxwell Food Centre for dinner. Since it was a Tuesday night, there wasn't alot of people there, which was good since it'll be really hard for us to chope a table. But anyway, I've never been there before so that was my virgin experience there! Heard that there were many food there which were highly recommended by the media, like wanton mee, ohlua jian (fried oyster) etc.

Basically, we just got wanton mee and ohlua jian only. I got the spinach noodles one, which was REALLY cool--green noodles and you can't exactly taste the spinach flavour! But IMO it taste like normal wanton mee, which I don't particularly have to go there just to eat their wanton mee ._.

For the ohlua jian, I. WAS. DISAPPOINTED?! It was said to be one of the top 10 ohlua jian in Singapore, and it's around $5. So anyway, the oysters were still cold, and some parts of the egg became cold too cause of the cold oysters. Isn't it just weird??? I was so sad at how bad the oysters were :'((( I feel so so cheated!! Never going back there to eat again >:(

Tsujiri @ 100am





We needed dessert therapy from our horrible ohlua jian experience previously, so we walked to Tsujiri at 100am for matcha desserts :))) Got the Shiratama Parfait for $7.80 with mochi inside.

Actually I realised I'm not a fan of mochi especially when its just plain, but the matcha ice cream was GOOOOOOD. One of the better ice creams I'm ever had, so guess it's really worth it!! And I loveeee the red bean.

We also got the O-maccha roll cake with the cream and all, HOMAIGAWD. FREAKIN' GOOD.

Dulcet and Studio @ Liang Court

 

Since there was still time before going home, we headed to Dulcet and Studio to try their chiffon cake, which is said to be 'One of the best in Singapore'. The price wasn't that cheap too, so we just shared a slice of Orange Peel Chiffon Cake for $7.00. (no GST/service charge!) There were other flavours too, like matcha, chocolate, peach etc. They also sold eclairs and cream puffs there which were OVERPRICED. :(  

It's legit one of the best chiffon cake I've ever eaten. <3 It's really really REALLLLLYYY soft and moist. Wa thinking about it I can drool sia!!! If only I can bake chiffon cakes :( Haven't tried baking one yet but I'm really lazy and my baking skills are rusty so quite sure I'll be wasting ingredients making a chiffon cake HAHA.



They also sold quite alot of other food, like cafe style, including pastas! Should have just went there directly to eat :( Travelling was so annoying, but for good food I will not complain!! :))

So yes, definitely going back to Tsujiri and Dulcet and Studio to try other stuff that they have, and no NEVER going back to Maxwell food centre again :((

Florist // Hobby // Birthday celebration!

hey;))

BEEN SO BUSYYYY!!! Anyway, finally started work as a florist!! Ok errr actually I'm just doing till the end of Feb since they want commitment which I can't provide and I feel bad :((( The pay isn't that good IMO since I have to travel all the way to Orchard too, so I'll just quit.

Floral Obsession* @ Scotts Square by K+





^ Floral Obsession is a pop up curatorial florist store in Scotts Square by K+, which is this company that provides a curatorial space for artists to showcase their works and sell them. PERFECT FOR ARTSY PEOPLE. Chris (the florist) is  A FREAKING TALENTED FLORIST I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING!! He didn't even go for flower arrangement classes and did everything based on his instincts. PLUS flower arrangement is his hobby, so basically he's making a living out of his hobby. SO JEALOUS!!!



Anyway, worked for 2 days there, and that place is ATAS. Been washing the vases and learning abit of admin stuff like Excel (been forever since I've touched excel)! But on day 2 I actually watched someone doing a flower arrangement for the first time in my life! I feel super privileged!! Somemore it's by some talented guy ;))







Watching him arrange flowers makes me feel so happy. The way he thinks about how to design the arrangement, the way he uses his imagination to think of creative ways to use different types of flowers intrigues me. (And since I don't really have alot of stuff to do), I've been thinking if I will ever be so devoted to something in my life. Even though I can't really appreciate those arrangements (I am not artsy), but everything has his mind and soul to it and you can even guess what music he's listening to when arranging them. But, the arrangements are GORGEOUS. Legit.

And I didn't even know there were so many people interested in flowers/arrangements!!! Maybe cause I've never been exposed to flowers (and the flowers are REAL EX) so I can't appreciate it \'_'/

But yea and it made me think of stuff even more. What you study in university does not actually determine your career. Working hard for what you actually like determines your career. WOWZIES so chim!!! Learnt all these chim stuff in 2 days in a flower shop clearly I've been tamed (ok kidding) HAHAHAHA.

OHOH and on the 3rd level is another store by K+, which showcases art by talented artists, but it changes often! This time it's by Keng Lye, who used resin and acrylic to make SUPER LOOK-LIKE REAL artworks!! Kinda scary how it actually looks like a real fish trapped inside!!! The art works are usually DAMN EXPENSIVE, which I wouldn't afford but there are actually people buying them!! (clearly I'm being introduced to the atas world which I cannot afford T.T)
